If this is true, it really is staggering. According to Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles, Jose Mourinho is prepared to sell Juan Mata this summer as he plans an overhaul of Chelsea's squad. Mata has been superb for the Blues since joining the club in 2011, scoring 12 goals and providing 12 assists in the Premier League last season, but apparently Mourinho isn't impressed as Real Madrid eye a move for the Spain international.
In an article that claims Chelsea could be set to switch their attention from Edinson Cavani to Mario Gomez, Castles wraps up by saying:
'Mourinho also wants to recruit a new midfielder and defender to bolster the spine of a team that has become relatively lightweight in Premier League terms. To raise funds he has placed £50m record signing Torres on the market, is prepared to sell David Luiz for around £35m and will even listen to offers for Juan Mata.'
