Here are some of Africa's fantastic footballers that never got to win the coveted CAF footballer of the year award. some came close to winning but couldn't, some were rumoured to be robbed! some were not even nominated though deserved to be. anyway, enjoy the roll call.
HOSSAM HASSAN (EGYPT)
DANIEL "THE BULL" AMOKACHI(NIGERIA)
DR KHUMALO (SOUTH AFRICA)
AUSTIN "JAY-JAY" OKOCHA
ABOUBACAR "TITI" CAMARA (GUINEA)
ALEXANDER SONG (CAMEROON)
ASAMOAH GYAN (GHANA)
STEPHEN KESHI "THE BIG BOSS(NIGERIA)
MICHAEL KOJO ESSIEN(GHANA)
MOHAMMED ABOUTRIKA(EGYPT)
SAMUEL OSEI KUFFOUR(GHANA)
SUNDAY OGOCHUKWU OLISEH(NIGERIA)
These soccer icons were so good that they just weren't able to the CAF Footballer of the year award. It calls to question the criteria CAF adopts in the nomination and selection of winners. there have been insinuations from many quarters that the Issa Hayatou led CAF have not been fair in their selection process. Each of these great men are worthy of the award considering their contributions to the game of soccer locally and internationally. so on behalf of the rest of Africa, soccer2theworld officially crown these soccer greats THE SOCCER2THEWORLD PLAYERS OF THE YEAR!
