ALESSANDRO NESTA (ITALY)
Alessandro Nesta,was born on the 19th of March 1976. He is an Italian pro and currently plays for the Major league soccer side Montreal Impact. Considered by many as one of the best central defender to have ever played the game, he is a four-time member of the annual UEFA Team of the Year.
CLUB CAREER
LAZIO
Nesta joined Lazio's youth academy in 1985. He became the team captain in 1997, and helped Lazio win the 1998 Italian cup after beating Milan in the final, in which he scored the winning goal. This was followed by a UEFA CUP WINNERS CUP and the European super cup in 1999. He also won the scudetto and Italian cup double in the 1999-2000 season. In addition to two Italian super cups .
Financial troubles forced Lazio to sell many of their best players including Nesta. He was transferred to Milan for €30.9 million.In his first two seasons with the Rossoneri, his contributions to the club were very successful as he won the 2002-2003 UEFA champions league, the Coppa Italia, European super cup and the Scudetto. Nesta played a vital part in Milan's return to the 2006-2007 champions league final, where Milan defeated Liverpool
2–1. He and Milan also won another European SuperCup in August 2007.
Nesta signed a contract extension that kept him at Milan until
2011.He scored his first goal for Milan on 15th September 2007. He also scored an all important goal for Milan in the 4–2 victory over Boca Juniors in the final of the 2007 FIFA World club cup.Nesta was noted to be one Milan's most consistent players having formed a solid defensive partnership with the Brazilian Thiago Silva. He eventually ended his Milan career in the summer of 2012 from where he signed an 18 months contract with Montreal Impacts on a free transfer.
